September 2024

by Lisa McGowan

Good Morning Girls,

Here we go again.. we find ourselves back in September and what a fast Summer that was. I know I say it all the time but how fast are the months flying by for us all. September is always a lovely month I think? I almost view it like a mini January where we get to restart after the madness of the Summer. Kids go back to school and College and routines in general come back into play and dare I say nearly the structure returns to life. I had an amazing Summer. I really really enjoyed it and yes I went lots of places and really enjoyed my time away with family and friends.

Early in August I headed over to Spain with Linda & Chelsea for a few days. We had a super time and it was a lovely unwind for the three of us. I really wanted to take the girls away. We all get on so well and I just wanted to look after them. We walked and walked in the sun and had beautiful meals out and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think we will make it an annual event. As I said, it’s just so nice to get away for a few days. After that, Chris treated me with a trip to Edinburgh. As most of you know I love to visit this City and I have always wanted to go to the Military Tattoo.. well guess what I got there this year and was it worth the wait. We totally loved it and it was a brilliant experience and if you could ever get tickets for it please do go.
We shopped lots, ate loads and had the odd few whiskey sours. Sure it would be rude not too lol…everything in moderation…

Off I went then for a few days to repack and get myself sorted for Boston. I love my annual trip to Boston. Peter, Nadine and the kids look after me so well every year on my holiday. I always find that it is a complete switch off for me. Peter is an amazing cook and Nadine is just the perfect hostess. We walk a lot and shop a lot lol… I love to just sit on the boat and read a book. I really try to just put down my phone and unwind when I am over there. I cannot thank the guys enough for looking after me so well. I am forever grateful to them both. I cannot wait until I have the space to return the compliment although I can almost guarantee that the food won’t be as good but I think I will host well….

I also wanted to say thanks for all the Birthday wishes. Another year under the belt, not so sure another year wiser lol… I actually cannot believe how I turned 52. Time really does fly by and I think it accelerates after you hit 50. Anybody else agree? We had a lovely gathering on Saturday night and I was spoiled by all and had great fun. I am so lucky though and so grateful for everything in my life and I just love what I just do which is the icing on the cake. If you had said to me twenty years ago that all this would be happening now I would never have believed it. As I always say “what is for you won’t pass you”. I also want to say thank you again to all of you who have supported me on this mad journey. I am forever grateful for all the support you all show me. I will never ever take this for granted. Without your support this would not be happening. Here is to another great year ahead for me. We are the lucky ones to make it to this age. As they say ageing is a privilege not afforded to us all so I will say it again, I am very grateful.

I was disappointed when I heard the house would be delayed. I had all my Christmas planned there but look I can put it on ice and Christmas 2025 will be in the new house. It gives me another year to get my ducks in a row. The outside plastering has begun and we are making great progress. It is busy and I just want to get it right and be 100% happy with everything. I am not the world’s most patient person let me tell you and sure I want it all done yesterday. As they say good things come to those who wait..  I just need to be patient and take my time as I know it will be fabulous.

Daragh is gone back to College now. Another year for him and he really is loving the course he is doing. That just makes me happy as a Mammy. All we want for them is to be happy really isn’t it girls? He has a new house now and is loving life up there. I will miss him though. I get used to him around the house and then when he’s gone the place gets quiet again. I love the comings and goings with his friends calling and the chats with them. I know lots of you here reading this today will have kids starting College in the next few weeks. I remember when Daragh went first I was devastated. The empty nest syndrome def hit me. It was always just Daragh and I from when he was 14 months old and it did take me a few months to get used to it and the quiet house. The worry about him staying safe and doing the right thing. Thankfully it has all gone well and he is very happy and that makes me happy. They have to get on with their lives and we need to support them. I am thinking about all of you that are in this boat for the first time this year. They will fly, don’t worry and this too will pass.

That is about all my news for now. I have lots of products launching in September girls so keep an eye on my stories. The cosy quarter zips will be going on sale in white and petrol blue. They are just fabulous. I have the jumpers in navy, black and buttermilk. Beautiful chiffon tops in cream and striped trousers are also landing this month. I will keep you all updated on stories throughout the month.

Thanks so much again for all the support,
