Let’s Keep Moving this February!

This February is certainly signalling brighter days ahead in many ways!
The Covid restrictions have been dropped, businesses are opening and we are free to meet up, socialise and travel to our hearts content! As well as all these wonderful improvements to our environment, the evenings are getting brighter, the weather is heating up slightly and soon springs of spring will be visible. Many reasons to celebrate and feel our moods lifting. I genuinely wish for everyone to feel this sense of hope and new beginnings.
January is often the month when many of us implement a new strategy to move our bodies more and become more active. Perhaps you have joined a gym, taken up running, yoga or Pilates or maybe you have chosen to explore the many beautiful hikes here in Ireland or maybe you have committed to giving yourself a 30 minute walk a day to improve your mental and physical wellbeing. If not, it is never too late to start implementing new habits to get to a goal you have for yourself.
When moving our bodies more, no matter the activity our bodies reward us with the wonderful endorphins that make us feel better mentally, our sleep is normally improved and our energy levels
increased.
We wanted to address some of the issues you may experience when incorporating new habits of exercise and movement to help you continue on the path to a healthier and happier you!
Protein
You may be aware that many athletes and fitness enthusiasts supplement protein when training, often in the form of shakes, powders and even bars. This is because exercise can trigger muscle protein breakdown. Consuming protein after exercise gives your body the amino acids it needs to repair and build this muscle.
You can add some protein to your post exercise routine by having a protein shake, a meal or snack containing eggs, lean meat or dairy products. If, however you struggle to include protein in your diet you can supplement.
The Hush and Hush protein supplement is of particular high quality, it can be added to milk or almond milk to make a drink or smoothie and is suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians as the protein is plan based the blend of greens, herbs, botanicals, probiotics and fibre provides all the necessities for keeping you energised and feeling good all day and getting the most from your exercise.
Magnesium
Muscle tightness and cramping can hinder our activity especially at night time when some of us experience restless legs or spasming in the legs in particular may be down to a magnesium deficiency.
Magnesium is important for breaking protein down into amino acids and so is essential in energy production but it also contributes to healthy bones, joints, teeth and the balancing of hormones, blood sugar and blood pressure.
If you feel you could be deficient in magnesium our top recommended product to supplement magnesium is Mag365. This product is very well absorbed by the body and we recommend dissolving a teaspoon of the powder in warm water 30 mins before bed.
Collagen
Collagen is an essential compound in the body responsible for the strength in our skin, the health of our joints and our bones and even aids our circulatory system. Collagen can help fuel your body pre and post exercise by aiding repair and supporting muscles. If you suffer from joint problems the Revive Active Joint Complex is an incredible supplement that contains a superior blend of premium ingredients for a multi-faceted approach to joint health. It is an all-in-one solution containing 10 key
ingredients. These ingredients include Peptan Collagen Peptides, MSM, Glucosamine and Hyaluronic Acid. The perfect supplement to compliment an active life!
Antioxidants
Glutathione Zooki is an advanced glutathione supplement with added Vitamin B2 that supports energy levels, skin, cell health and combatting oxidative stress. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that your body produces on its own. It contains three amino acids, glutamine, glycine, and cysteine in combination they help with repairing damage to cells and help with energy production!
We are here to help!
If you are not feeling elated at the moment, perhaps you are feeling waves of emotions like fear or anxiety perhaps you are worried or grieving a loss of some kind, if that is the case, please do not feel like there is something wrong with how you are feeling, we are coming out of a prolonged period of stress like nothing we have experienced before.
Make sure you only do what you are comfortable with and do not put pressure on yourself to go places or socialise in surroundings that you are anxious about. Take it easy on yourself and make sure and speak to someone you trust about how you are feeling.
